For my project, I chose to pursue this style of sans-tête sculpture but instead of making it out of clay like in the original sculpture, Odore di Feminina (2006), by Johan Cretan, I made it out of plaster and Papier-mâché. Though this piece began as a cast of my body it quickly transformed to be applied to the universal woman and questions the objectification and fetishization of women. Finally, this piece delves into themes of memory as it gives a physical and slightly disturbing presence to female experiences. It both expresses the struggle of becoming a woman and/or a woman artist’s perception in today's male-dominated society.
